Lindsey (Lou) Howard’s ceramic practice investigates the politics of food, revealing its entanglements with environmental justice, capitalism, and industry. Howard’s sculptures merge culturally defined “desirable” or “indulgent” foods to draw attention to the intertwined emotions of desire, pleasure, addiction, and guilt. These works capture the ostentatious spectacle of foodie culture that is largely promoted through social media and national marketing campaigns. With a satirical edge, Howard considers the narratives of catastrophe that loom large over the future of food sustainability during our current era of environmental disaster and crisis.

Lindsey (Lou) Howard (b. 1997) is a ceramic sculptor born in Dallas, Texas and based in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BA in Art History from the University of Northern Colorado with concentrations in Ceramics and Chemistry. Howard's work has been exhibited domestically and internationally including Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong, Stuttgart and Milan. Howard has presented solo exhibitions with Launch F18 (New York, NY) in 2022 and Albertz Benda (Los Angeles, CA) in November 2023.
